Illegal. Pyramid Scheme. Scam. In our more than two decades in business, we’ve heard it all. Sadly, allegations such as these arising from misinformation and a lack of awareness tend to promote an unfavourable narrative about QNET. Yet, thousands of people around the world continue to place their faith in QNET and promote our products and services to friends and family.
It’s easy to get swept up in the noise of social media and online discussion forums. We are here to cut through the clutter and give you some facts that will allow you to make up your mind and answer the perennial question: Is QNET a Scam?
Let’s start with the basics. QNET is a leading e-commerce-powered business that retails a wide range of products using the direct selling business model. And while it’s true that some people — and indeed, some countries — have trouble wrapping their heads around the mechanics of direct selling, there’s nothing wrong or illegal about what we do.
Here are 10 reasons that explain why:
1. QNET pays commissions only on product sales.
QNETis often accused of operating an illegal pyramid scheme. But, a pyramid scheme is defined as “a fraudulent money-making scheme in which early participants are paid out of money received from later recruits, with the final recruits putting money in and getting nothing back”.
None of that spells QNET.
In our business model, distributors are paid commissions only on the sale of products. It doesn’t matter if you joined early or later. We have so many instances where downlines have built much more successful businesses than their uplines, purely based on the strength of the sales they generate.
Thus, even if one signed up a large network to join the business but didn’t sell a single product, there’s no money to be made without sales.
The key here is that sales and purchases of products are essential.
2. There is no overnight success with QNET.
QNET is not a get-rich-quick scheme. It’s not an investment or financial fund scheme that claims to give people unusually high returns. The QNET business requires hard work just like any other entrepreneurial venture.
QNET distributors need to plan their business strategically, build and train their teams, perform financial planning and sales projections, and put in good ol’ fashioned hard work to achieve success.
Is it possible to make money, even a lot of it, from direct selling? Of course! It’s no different to a person setting up a brick-and-mortar storefront!
However, like with any other business, financial rewards take time to reap.
3. A name change doesn’t mean QNET is a scam
When QNET was founded as GoldQuest in 1998, there was only one product on offer: Commemorative gold coins. The name was a reflection of the product the company was selling at the time.
Later, as the company’s profile and portfolio evolved and expanded to include more technology-based products, a new name was needed. Hence,
QuestNet, which was later shortened to QNET. Unfortunately, some people have used this simple truth to cast aspersions on the organisation.
The fact of the matter is that companies change their name all the time.
And there’s a mountain of evidence — from the World Wrestling Federation becoming World Wrestling Entertainment in 2002 to Facebook becoming Meta last year — which proves that QNET’s situation is hardly unique.
4. QNET has offices around the globe — illegal businesses don’t.
From humble beginnings, QNET has grown, over two decades, into a leading organisation with offices not only in Southeast Asia, where the company began life, but around the world.
We have offices in countries with strict regulatory systems such as Singapore, Hong Kong and Germany.
Legit businesses are compelled to function within the law. And the fact that QNET, headquartered in Hong Kong, operates around the globe in full compliance with national rules and regulations, should underline the fact that everything’s above board.
5. QNET products are developed following international standards
QNET products are designed to help people take charge of their health and improve their lifestyles, with the overarching goal of making complete well-being accessible to all. Our Research & Development teams work with an international panel of experts and scientists to source and develop the highest quality of products.

6. QNET is a member of prominent industry bodies
QNET is an active member of respected industry bodies such as the direct selling associations (DSAs) in several countries.
The company’s membership in the Direct Selling Association of Malaysia (DSAM), in particular, dates all the way back to 2010.
DSAs, essentially, not only serve as self-regulating industry bodies but also work closely with governments to ensure that members comply with legal, ethical and professional standards.
For example, the DSAM is aligned with the country’s Domestic Trade & Consumer Affairs Ministry, Finance Ministry and Health Ministry in addition to other government bodies.
In addition to Malaysia, QNET is a member of DSAs in Singapore, the Philippines, Indonesia, and UAE and our European business is a member of the DSA in France and Spain.
And all DSAs are members of the World Federation of Direct Selling Associations (WFDSA).
7. Distributors are held to high ethical standards
On the topic of ethics and professional conduct, QNET’s distributors or Independent Representatives are required to adhere to a stringent Code of Ethics.
Indeed, our Policies and Procedures clearly articulate how distributors should represent QNET and conduct business.
These are further enhanced by QNET’s Red Lines; a set of 10 rules to underscore the importance of professionalism and ethics.
All QNET’s codes detail in no uncertain terms the company’s zero-tolerance attitude to illegality and ethical violations, and warn of immediate termination in the event of breaches.
8. QNET is associated with reputable, established brands
QNET is the official direct selling partner of English Premier League champions Manchester City.
A footballing giant like City, with its proud history and accomplishments, places a lot of stock in the brands and names it associates with.
Thus, the fact that the club has chosen to not only partner with QNET but agreed to have our name proudly emblazoned on its official watches speaks volumes for our credibility.
Incidentally, QNET’s prominent sports sponsorships include partnerships with the Confederation of African Football, the Malaysian Hockey Confederation and PJ City FC.
Those partnerships aside, the names among QNET’s stable of products also speak to our standing. Take, for example, Bernhard H. Mayer®, the distinguished jewellery and watch marque.
With a proud 150-year history, the brand would have a lot to lose by being linked to an illegal scam. As such, its confidence in QNET offers proof of our legitimacy.
9. QNET’s recognition extends to winning global awards
QNET’s status as a pioneering organisation has also resulted in a slew of prestigious honours over the years. Our focus on giving our customers and distributors a seamless experience through our digital touch points, social media, business app, and training and education has won accolades at several international awards.
Some of the most prominent wins in recent times include the Stevie Awards, Titan Business Awards, the Globee Business Awards. For a full list of awards won by QNET over the years, please visit the QNET Honour Roll.
In 2021 alone, QNET scored a grand total of 33 trophies, including distinguished recognition for our CEO Malou Caluza.
10. QNET gives back to communities in need
Perhaps one of the most important aspects of QNET is our corporate philosophy, RYTHM, an acronym for Raise Yourself To Help Mankind. RYTHM is about QNET’s mission to help people empower themselves so that they can go out and make a difference in their communities.
From the beginning, our focus has not only been on building a profitable business, but also making sure we are involved in the communities in which we do business.
To date, through QNET’s corporate social responsibility arm, RYTHM Foundation, we have helped improve the lives of more than 50,000 people in numerous countries worldwide – and that number grows each day.
We are also focussed on environmental sustainability, and have launched various initiatives, to help set Mother Earth right. For example, QNET’s Green Legacy initiative aims to help with reforestation efforts around the world to help balance our planet’s ecosystem.
And today, two decades on, the company remains committed to promoting professionalism, ethics, transparency and good business.
“Scam” companies don’t operate this way.
